Attitude toward the acceptability and practice of modern contraceptives among women of child bearing age in Jigawa state, Nigeria

Background: Despite recent improvements in the use of contraceptives amongst married women Jigawa, utilization rates are still far below national figures emerging regions country. Therefore, there is a need to assess attitude toward acceptability and determinants practice modern among child bearing age Jigawa state, Nigeria. Aim: This study Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive research was conducted on respondents. The population comprised all eligible within area, who were selected agreed participate study. Sample sizes Four Hundred four (404), respondents recruited using multistage sampling technique. Data collected Questionnaire coded, entered, analyzed Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. Result: Majority (92.3%) had heard about contraception while (7.70%) not. Injection Depo-Provera most (85.6%) known method whereas pills condom recorded 84.8% 82.7% respectively. Lactation Amenorrhea (8.2%) least heard. shows that majority got information through mass media (33.2%) health workers (28.1%). Only few (9.6%) relatives. result avoiding unwanted pregnancy (24.3%) benefit However, only 14.3% reported decreases economic burden family as planning. Conclusions: findings from this will help develop programs can improve knowledge females services provided by health-care system reduce adverse effects incidence unplanned pregnancies.
